Our Services
From tree care to consultation, we take pride in offering a wide range of services.
Tree Care Services
Tree Pruning & Removal
Pruning is an essential maintenance activity to keep trees healthy and safe to be around. Species-specific techniques will ensure your tree is optimizing its growth potential while being a protective factor on your property. Occasionally, tree removal may be required. We can assist with both experienced pruning and removal.
Power Line Clearing
We offer preventative and responsive power line clearing. Preventative line clearing includes completing routine vegetation maintenance to ensure power lines are not obstructed. Responsive power line clearing is available when tree damage may be impacting your private line and urgent attention is required.
Pesticide Management
Herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, miticides, nematicides and plant growth regulators all play a pivotal role in urban and rural tree/forest management health. We have Forestry Exterminator, Landscape Exterminator, and Industrial Vegetation Exterminator licenses to control, maintain, and protect your investments and help keep your green spaces healthy and thriving.
Fertilization
We offer deep root fertilization to help keep your trees strong, healthy and lots of vigor – not just to keep the structural sound but to fend off pests and insects that target more susceptible less vigorous trees.
Consultation Services
ISA Arborist Reports/Permits
Many regions, cities, counties, and townships require an ISA Arborist Report to remove or prune trees based on specific criteria. As ISA Certified Arborists, we are here to help you and offer ISA Arborist Reports to private landowners, government, real estate professionals, conservation authorities, provincial/federal parks, etc. We also work with insurance claims when needed.
Hazard Tree Assessments
Properties in both urban and rural areas have the same problem, trees that are unmaintained or damaged by insect or disease take away tree vigor, vitality, and longevity. Relying on our ISA’s Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ), our certified arborists can assess your tree(s) to ensure strong, healthy trees can remain an important part of your property.
Tree Appraisal
Working with our professional networks and insurance companies, we can assist in calculating or confirming the monetary value of your trees. Through our appraisal process we will confirm details like the monetary value of your subject tree(s), the value subject tree(s) add to your property, the cost of damage to subject tree(s), and the timber value of a forested lot (if applicable). Whether you’re looking to confirm your tree(s) value for real estate purposes, an insurance claim, or to have your property harvested, we can provide the details you need.
Tree Inventory and Preservation
We offer complete inventory services and forestry preservation planning. We work with individual property owners, real estate professionals, governments, and organizations to offer plans to help restore greenery and work with you in developing capacities.
Butternut Health Expert (BHE)
In Ontario, Butternut (butternut canker), a fungal disease, is an endangered species along with Black Ash (as of 2022) after the rapid spread of the emerald ash borer. The province requires butternut to be protected, so we offer assistance as Butternut Health Experts to properly identify and assess the butternut health and likelihood of survival. If any work in urban or rural areas is to be done, a butternut health assessment is required through provincial regulations. Black ash can be treated using systemic insecticides, which is best when the tree has yet to be compromised by the insect. We can assess your Ash trees to put you on the right path.
Forestry Services
Fruit Tree Maintenance & Orchard Management
Whether you have one fruit tree on your property, or an orchard, properly managed and maintained fruit trees provide yields of fruit, flowering, and health to your property. From biological, mechanical, cultural or physical controls, there are many pathways to take when managing and providing maintenance to fruit trees. We offer pruning, spraying and consulting.
MFTIP (Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program)
MFTIP is a voluntary program to help assist property owners with forestry stewardship on their wood lots (4 hectares, 9.88 acres minimum). Administered by the Ministry of Natural Resources, this plan offers a property tax reduction of 75% on well-managed forest land in Ontario. The plan is for a 10-year period with a progress report in year 5 to track the management plan progress. At LaFave Tree, we have Managed Forest Plan Approvers, who are required by the ministry to plan your forest management or to approve the management plan you provide. Contact us for more information regarding eligibility and the program details.
Trail Management
We work with property owners and woodlot owners to offer maintenance to forestry trails, help navigate a potential trail with expert advice on the landscape, topography and minimal impact, removal of trees, pruning of trees, and offer advice to enhance the trail you want or already have.
Consultations
We offer consultations on woodlots small and big, no matter the size. Forests offer an abundance of opportunity, whether it’s sustainability, naturalism, wood products, wildlife, trails, species diversity, native species, wood chips, forest floor vegetation, or bird watching. Forests offer something to everyone and we’re here to help, offering consultation services to help you get there.
